So you want to be a Mendicant?

Every Fall quarter, we direct our focus to finding the best singers and people we can to bring along with us on our year-long journey. It doesn't matter if you are an incoming freshman, upperclassman, or transfer student; if you would like to learn more, come and find us in White Plaza tabling during NSO. It is a great opportunity to meet some members, see what we’re all about, and check out the other groups.

This year, we will be holding auditions during Week 1 of Fall quarter, starting September 26th, 2022. If you’re interested, we would love to meet you and hear your audition!

How do I sign up for auditions?

You can sign up for a 15-minute audition slot right here.

What should I do to prepare?

For your audition, we will begin by bringing you through a quick series of range, rhythm, and pitch exercises. When this is done, we expect that you come prepared with a 45-90 second solo that shows off your range, tone, musicality, and personality. More often than not, this is just your favorite song to sing! Ultimately, we want to figure out how comfortable you are musically and who you are as a person. The best thing you can do it bring a positive attitude and an enthusiasm for music that is sure to leave a positive impression.

We look for a variety of skills beyond being a great singer: if you are a vocal percussionist, choreographer, arranger, developer, designer, rapper, or have prior leadership experience, we'd love to hear about it!
